In 1956, the League of American Bicyclists started Bike to Work Day and in turn began honoring all things BIKE during the month of May. This proceeded the first Earth Day by 14 years. Here in Sonoma County, we are celebrating National Bike Month by holding the 17th Annual Bike to Work Day on May 12, 2011 and a whole bevy of bike events through the month of May.

From the newly initated bike rider to the seasoned commuter there is an event for everyone to enjoy while using pedal power. A pre-event was held  April 30, at the Santa Rosa Certified Farmer’s Market – We Love Bikes! Day and Haul Stuff by Bike Clinic. The turnout was fantastic at this event, indicating Sonoma County is poised to take to the saddle throughout the month of May.
